LOS ANGELES, Calif. — A California Highway Patrol pursuit involving a motorcycle ended early Sunday morning after the rider abandoned the bike beneath the 110 Freeway and fled on foot.

The pursuit continued onto surface streets near James M. Wood Boulevard shortly before midnight. A law-enforcement helicopter followed the motorcycle from above as CHP officers pursued from the ground.

After traveling beneath the freeway overpass, the rider stopped the motorcycle, got off and ran from the area. The overpass temporarily provided cover from the helicopter’s direct view as the suspect fled on foot.

It was not immediately clear whether CHP officers were able to locate and arrest the rider. Information about where the pursuit began, how long it lasted and when authorities determined the motorcycle had been stolen was also not immediately available.
